Rodriguez, Pantonial Break Records in UAAP High School Athletics

Jeralyn Rodriguez of the University of the East and Kharis Pantonial of Nazareth School NU delivered record-breaking performances on the second day of the UAAP Season 87 High School Athletics Championships at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium. Rodriguez blazed through the 200-meter dash in 24.92 seconds, surpassing the previous mark of 25.05 seconds. This victory added to her stellar season, having also broken the 100-meter dash record earlier. Her dominance helped UE surge ahead in the team standings with 211.5 points, overtaking defending champion UST.

Meanwhile, Pantonial made history in the boys' 200-meter dash, clocking 21.72 seconds to eclipse the previous record of 21.99 seconds. His performance secured gold for NUNS, while La Salle Zobel’s Durden Wangkay and fellow NUNS runner Larry Taripe completed the podium. UST’s Lyka Mae Raterta also shone, clinching gold in the girls’ 3,000-meter run. As the competition heats up, these athletes’ stellar performances continue to raise the bar for high school athletics in the UAAP.
