Malanda State High Claims Cricket Championship Victory

Malanda State High School’s senior girls' cricket team has been crowned state champions in the Street Smarts Secondary Schools T20 Cricket Challenge. The team displayed exceptional skill and determination, securing victory over Shalom College Bundaberg in the grand final. Their success marked the culmination of an outstanding journey through district, regional, and North Queensland rounds before dominating the state finals in Brisbane.

Malanda State High School’s senior girls' cricket team has been crowned state champions in the Street Smarts Secondary Schools T20 Cricket Challenge. The team displayed exceptional skill and determination, securing victory over Shalom College Bundaberg in the grand final. Their success marked the culmination of an outstanding journey through district, regional, and North Queensland rounds before dominating the state finals in Brisbane.

Led by captain Indianna, Malanda set a strong total of 110 runs, with key contributions from Amelie (26 runs) and Indianna (37 not out). Their bowling attack proved just as formidable, with Indianna and Amelie each taking multiple wickets. The team wrapped up the final in the fifteenth over, dismissing Shalom College for 96. Meanwhile, Atherton High also made an impressive run in the tournament but fell short against St Patrick’s College Mackay, ending their campaign in the semifinals.
