While many high school students are still determining their paths, four remarkable athletes from Heritage High School have already reached the pinnacle of success. These talented hurdlers recently claimed the title of National Champions in track and field, a victory that exceeded their expectations and solidified their place among the best. Under the guidance of Coach Shawn Webb, who has over two decades of experience, the team traveled to New York City for the Adidas Track Nationals, initially aiming for an enjoyable experience. However, they ended up securing the top spot, leaving with much more than they anticipated: a national title.
The Charles E Mills Secondary School Relay Team showcased remarkable resilience to defend their title at the 2026 National High School Track and Field Championships, securing another national victory. With dominant performances across events, the school finished the competition with an impressive 29 gold, 20 silver, and 25 bronze medals. The final event, the 4×400 Relay, proved crucial, as the team held off a strong challenge from Charlestown Secondary School, which claimed second place with 27 golds, 27 silvers, and 25 bronze medals. Verchilds High School rounded out the top three with 18 golds, 22 silvers, and 12 bronzes.
