As the high school swimming season heads toward its final stretch, athletes across Southern Utah are sharpening their performances in preparation for region and state championships. The upcoming Region 9 meet at Utah Tech University will be a key test, especially after the recent Red Rock Invitational, where larger programs dominated but local teams still made a strong impression. Canyon View’s boys placed third, while Desert Hills’ girls led the local pack with a third-place finish. With several returning standouts, including Canyon View’s Ty Lauer, Sean Cannon, and Soleil Grimshaw, the region remains highly competitive. Cannon, in particular, has emerged as one of the state’s fastest swimmers, posting a leading time in the 200 freestyle.
