VFCSS Edges Micoud Secondary to Capture Under-19 Netball Title

Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School won the Under-19 Inter-Schools netball championship after a tense 31-30 victory over Micoud Secondary School in the final at the Beausejour Indoor Facility on Friday, November 14. Hosted by the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, the tournament brought together top school teams from across Saint Lucia. The final lived up to expectations, with VFCSS using its strong presence in key positions to pressure Micoud throughout the match. Quarter scores of 7-5, 13-11, 24-19, and 31-30 showed how tightly fought the contest was, with Micoud mounting a late push but falling just short at the finish.

VFCSS owed much of its success to the sharp shooting of Deriscia Mitchell, who converted 22 of 26 attempts, while Neriah Charlery added nine goals from 14 chances. Micoud also delivered a spirited effort, led by Mekeige Joseph with 18 goals from 29 attempts and Clarise Nervais with 12 from 20. In the third-place match, Sir Arthur Lewis Community College defeated Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School 28-25 after building a strong early lead. The tournament highlighted the quality of young netball talent on the island, with VFCSS standing out for its composure, accuracy, and ability to hold firm under pressure.
