Starkville Completes Comeback to Win 2026 Boys Class 7A Basketball Championship

Starkville High School claimed the 2026 Boys Class 7A Basketball Championship with a 40-36 comeback win over Germantown High School on Friday, March 6, 2026. Germantown controlled the early pace, leading 7-6 after the first quarter and 22-15 at halftime. Starkville responded in the second half, narrowing the gap with a 14-10 third quarter before closing the game with an 11-4 run in the fourth.

Starkville High School claimed the 2026 Boys Class 7A Basketball Championship with a 40-36 comeback win over Germantown High School on Friday, March 6, 2026. Germantown controlled the early pace, leading 7-6 after the first quarter and 22-15 at halftime. Starkville responded in the second half, narrowing the gap with a 14-10 third quarter before closing the game with an 11-4 run in the fourth.

The shift came late in the third quarter, when Starkville turned a 30-21 deficit into a 32-29 game behind three-pointers from Jerwan Mccarter, Terrell Warren Jr., and Tyreq Hendrix. Ladanuel Jordan and Andricus Howard helped tie the game early in the fourth, and Jordan’s basket with 5:21 remaining gave Starkville the lead for good. Mccarter led Starkville with 10 points, while Jordan added 8, Tyreq Hendrix scored 6, and Kobe Hendrix finished with 5 points and 3 rebounds.
