Standout Performances in New York’s Section II Athletics – March 2024

High school athletes across New York’s Section II showcased their talent during the week of 3–9 March 2024, excelling in indoor track and field, wrestling, and basketball. At the New York State Indoor Track and Field Championships, Emma Powers of Fonda-Fultonville and Aidan Davis of Shenendehowa each claimed the state title in their respective 600-meter events, with Powers finishing in 1:33.74 and Davis in 1:20.15. Their performances highlighted their elite speed and composure under pressure.

In wrestling, Dan Driscoll of Scotia-Glenville earned All-American honours at the National High School Coaches Association National Duals in Virginia Beach, raising Section II’s profile on the national stage. On the basketball courts, Saratoga Springs’ Emily Papa contributed 21 points in her team’s Class AA semifinal win, while Hoosic Valley’s Anna Mormile impressed with her leadership in regional tournament play. These achievements underscore the depth of talent in Section II, setting a high standard for upcoming spring competitions.
