The 2025 North Carolina high school basketball season wrapped up in thrilling fashion, with champions crowned in all four classifications. North Mecklenburg secured its second straight 4A title by rallying from a 14-point deficit to defeat New Hanover 59-56 behind standout performances from Carson Evans (24 points) and Chadlyn Traylor (22 points). For New Hanover, it marked a second consecutive heartbreak, both losses coming at the hands of North Meck in the title game.
In 3A, Ben L. Smith edged Southern Durham 64-62 in overtime behind Jyi Dawkins's 29-point MVP performance, including clutch free throws in the final seconds. Tayshawn Mann helped force OT with a key layup late in regulation, while Southern Durham’s A.J. Morman Jr. and Jackson Keith both tallied 23 points in the narrow loss.
Reidsville continued its dynasty in the 2A division, defeating Northwood 71-54 to complete a 60-game winning streak and earn its second straight state championship. Dionte Neal scored 24 points, while Oregon football commit Kendre Harrison dominated with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 blocks. The Rams now boast an astonishing 90-1 record over the past three seasons.
In 1A action, Corvian Community captured its first-ever state title in spectacular fashion, beating Southern Wake Academy 58-55 in overtime. Sophomore R.J. Moore sealed the victory with a buzzer-beating three-pointer and finished with 26 points to earn MVP honors. Teammate Malachi McCutcheon added 15 points, while Kobe Plata led the Lions with 19 in a hard-fought loss.
