Sitting level at 63-63, Cedar Grove Belgium High School had possession with mere seconds on the clock against top seed Roncalli High School before Thomas Wiesner chucked a half court buzzer beater which went in to give the underdogs a 66-63 upset victory.
The 7th seed Cedar Grove had already produced various upsets to get to this sectional semi-final match up vs Roncalli, none more shocking than their 83-81 regional semi-final victory over Kohler, who were ranked 5th in the state. A comfortable 72-58 win over Reedsville in the regional final saw them progress to sectional's, where they now have a chance to reach the state tournament for the first time in school history if they defeat 6th seed The Prairie School.
They will be hoping their fairytale run can continue in Whitefish Bay and will be looking for more magic from the team to make even more history for the school.
