In a low scoring affair, Blackrock College emerged victorious in a 14-9 victory over Terenure College to add a 72nd Leinster Schools Senior Cup title to their trophy cabinet. Hooker Harry O'Neill scored the only try of the game in the tightly contested game at Tallaght Stadium.
The try came early on after just 7 minutes from a powerful driving maul which saw Blackrock strike first. Flyhalf Paddy Clancy wasn't able to convert, leaving it 5-0. However, it was Terenure, who were making their first appearance in the final since 2009 and haven't won in 22 years, who held the lead at the interval after two penalties from Gareth Morgan.
The second half saw Clancy get Blackrock back infront through two more penalties, leaving the score 11-6 with 20 minutes to go. Terenure then thought they had a try but it was disallowed after the referee consulted with his match officials, but they had an advantage and Morgan slotted another penalty to bring them within 2.
Terenure continued to push but it was another Clancy penalty that would be the last score of the game, helping Blackrock to yet another Senior Cup title. In a game which only featured one try, it was the defence from both sides which was particularly impressive. Blackrock's success stretched their massive lead in titles to 60, ahead of 12 from Belvedere College, whilst their 2025 opponents Terenure sit third with 10 titles in their history.
