The 2025 National High School Rugby tournament held in Saitama has kicked off, much to the excitement of players and fans alike. This year marks the 26th edition of the annual tournament which showcases some of the best schools rugby Japan has to offer.

Held in the East Osaka City, 16 teams compete with only 8 making it to the quarter finals that start on the 25th. Teamwork and talent takes centre stage at this hugely exciting school rugby event which will no doubt provide entertainment to those in attendance.

There are various teams to look out for but one example is Nakoso Industrial High School from Fukushima Prefecture. It is their second consecutive year of participating and the team impressed in their recent trip to Kansai. Nakoso defeated Hanazano 17-10 on March 15th before an impressive dismantling of a combined Osaka team in a 72-19 win the next day to head into the tournament in good form.

It is looking promising that this year will continue to showcase talent within Japanese school rugby as the teams battle it out for glory.
