School Sports Tournaments
Pleasant Grove made school history by winning its first 5A drill team state championship, ending Bountiful’s reign and turning years of steady progress into a title. After placing fifth in the highly competitive 6A tournament for three straight seasons, the Vikettes moved into 5A this year and made the most of the shift. Their strongest results came in the Dance and Show categories, where they placed first on Saturday at UVU. Coach Sami Jo Carson said the team’s theme for the season was “legacy,” with the goal of building on the program’s past while setting a new standard for the future. That focus showed throughout the season, as Pleasant Grove entered the state tournament as one of the top contenders and carried that confidence all the way to the championship.
