Wilson’s School has enjoyed an exciting and highly successful first term of the badminton season, with strong performances recorded across all age groups. Players have demonstrated excellent commitment, teamwork and technical ability, making it a positive and memorable start to the campaign.
The standout achievement of the term came from the Wilson’s School U14 and U16 A teams, who both progressed to the Last 16 of the School Sport Magazine National Cup. This represents a significant milestone for the school’s badminton programme and reflects the consistent hard work and preparation undertaken by the squads since September. Both teams will resume their National Cup campaigns in January, competing for places in the quarter-finals.
Strong contributions were also made by the U14 and U16 B teams, who showed impressive determination and competitiveness throughout the term. Notably, their only defeats came in closely contested fixtures against their respective A teams, underlining the depth of talent and strong internal competition within the Wilson’s School badminton programme.
Meanwhile, the U12 squad enjoyed an excellent introduction to competitive school badminton. All players were given the opportunity to represent Wilson’s School in fixtures, gaining valuable experience against opponents including Tiffin, Whitgift, Epsom College and RGS Guildford. Their performances provided encouraging signs for the future development of the programme.
Training sessions have been very well attended throughout the term, with high levels of engagement from students across all year groups. The enthusiasm and positive attitude shown by players continue to be a key strength of badminton at Wilson’s School.
With competition set to resume in the New Year, Wilson’s School will look to build on this successful first term. Congratulations to all players on their achievements so far, and best wishes for the remainder of the season.
