Wick High School delivered an impressive set of performances in this year’s Scottish Cup, led by the outstanding success of the S3 netball team, who topped their group unbeaten to advance to the next round of the Cup. Facing Thurso High School, Fortrose Academy, Grantown Grammar School and Kingussie High School, the S3 squad established their dominance early with a strong 32–21 victory over Thurso. Their momentum continued in Inverness, where they produced a series of confident results, beating Fortrose 27–6, Grantown 19–16 and Kingussie 28–16. Their perfect record secured first place in the group and marked the strongest achievement for Wick High in this year’s competition.

The S2 team also showed determination in a challenging group that included Albyn School, Westhill Academy, Robert Gordon’s College, Fortrose Academy and Thurso High School. They opened their campaign with an excellent 32–11 win over Thurso before adding further victories against Albyn (20–13) and Fortrose (27–7). Despite falling to strong sides from Robert Gordon’s College and Westhill Academy, the S2 girls finished third in the group and progressed to the Plate competition.

Wick High also entered two senior teams into the tournament, a reflection of the large number of enthusiastic pupils taking part in weekly sessions. Competing in Kirkwall against Kirkwall Grammar School, Stromness Academy, Anderson High School and Fortrose Academy, the senior teams worked tirelessly throughout a demanding day of matches. Although results didn’t go in their favour and both teams exited the competition, the experience proved valuable for the development of the players involved.
