Success for St Julian High School Seeta in 2024 USSSA boys’ football championship

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sport Association (USSSA) boy’s football tournament has a newly crowned champion in St Julian High School Seeta.

The final took place at Masaka Secondary School on Sunday 5th May against a 10-man Amus College.Closing out the week-long championship between sixty four schools.

St Julian High School Seeta took the lead early on with Ssekate pouncing off a rebound from goalkeeper Ben Sinalya at the 15 minute mark.

Just 4 minutes later Ssekate was back to establish a 2-0 lead,poking the ball into the roof of the net.

Play carried on after half time with Amus College School missing two goal scoring opportunities and giving away a penalty.

The referee. Joseph Masembe. awarded a penalty to St Julian following on from a deliberate hand ball from Amus College captain Toto Majub.

Amus College were forced to play the rest of the game with ten men who continued to struggle through to a 3-0 loss.

This is a first ever national schools’ football trophy for St Julian High School Seeta. Head coach Ssekabuzza attributes the win to good planning, diligence and self belief.

“We have been planning for this. At first the target was to get out of the group. Then, we grew in confidence and belief. Wereally worked hard for this.”
