St Joseph’s School Triumph at ESFA Sedgemoor Area Finals

The girls’ football team from St Joseph’s School in Burnham-On-Sea claimed an impressive victory at the ESFA Sedgemoor Area Finals, held at Bridgwater College on October 16.

The tournament brought together 11 schools from across the region, and the St Joseph’s squad delivered outstanding performances throughout the competition. They dominated the group stage, winning every match and finishing top of their group with victories over St Andrew’s, St John and St Francis, Eastover, The Huntspills, and Somerset Bridge.

In a thrilling final, St Joseph’s secured a 2–1 victory to be crowned champions of the tournament. Headteacher Rebecca Suik praised the team’s efforts, saying, “the team showed passion, determination and a positive team spirit throughout the tournament,” adding that “the football on show was just brilliant.”

Following their success, St Joseph’s School will go on to represent the Sedgemoor Area in the County Finals, scheduled to take place in Weston next January.

The school and wider community are immensely proud of the team’s achievement and look forward to cheering them on in the next stage of the competition.
