Saddleworth School Under 15s netball team clinch the national title in the Sisters in Sport National Championships.
The girls qualified for the National Finals Day held at Loughborough University by winning five games against teams from the North of England.
After a nail biting match taking on Wycombe in the semi-final and finishing on top 21-20, the team headed into the finals against Walthamstow Hall. After a loss of 7-5 in the first quarter the girls managed to pull it back to 12-12 by the end of the second.Even with their GA sustaining an injury in the third quarter they were able to win it 20-16. Some incredible play in the second half meant that both teams had to fight hard over the title. The girls from Saddleworth were able to secure the win 27-15, claiming their trophy.
When speaking to the school about the win they said that “the whole team was outstanding. Saddleworth is so proud of the girls for this huge achievement. What a day it was with life-long memories made.”
A huge congratulations to the whole team on their National title: Alice Winfield, Phoebe Griffiths, Amy Cummings, Elizabeth Barugh, Eview Burgin, Molly Hirst, Lily Wilson, Lexi Randerson, Kiki Brown and Maisie Felstead.
