Redwell Primary School have continued their dominance in Clackmannanshire primary school badminton by securing the CPSSA Badminton Quaich championship for the fourth consecutive year.
The final took place at Lornshill Academy on 12 December, following a highly competitive tournament organised by the council’s sport and leisure team. A total of 136 pupils from 17 schools took part in the competition, which was held across several cluster rounds featuring singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches.
After progressing through the earlier stages, Redwell qualified for the final alongside Abercromby, Banchory, Muckhart, Tillicoultry and Sunnyside Primary Schools. The finals produced a series of exciting matches, with Redwell ultimately finishing top of the standings to retain their title.
Sunnyside Primary School claimed second place, while Banchory Primary School completed the podium in third.
In addition to the team competition, several pupils were recognised for their outstanding conduct and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, receiving brand-new badminton rackets. Fair play awards were also presented during the final to pupils from Abercromby, Muckhart and Tillicoultry Primary Schools.
The council’s sport and leisure team thanked all participating pupils, volunteers and school staff for their cooperation and commitment, as well as Alloa, Alva and Lornshill Academies for hosting matches during the competition.
Redwell’s latest victory further cements their reputation as one of the strongest primary school badminton teams in the region.
