The Monmouth U18 Girls Hockey team delivered an outstanding performance at the National Hockey School Girls Championships in Cardiff, securing a well-earned silver medal after an impressive run to the final.

Despite difficult weather conditions, the team began the tournament with confidence, recording a dominant 5–0 victory over Llandovery. They followed this with a disciplined 1–0 win against Christ College Brecon before completing the group stage with a convincing 3–0 result against Brynhyfryd. These performances secured their place in the semi-final, where they produced another controlled display to defeat Howell’s School 3–0 and advance to the final.

In the final against Llandaff Cathedral, Monmouth made a strong start as Martha found the net within the opening four minutes to give the team an early lead. Llandaff responded just before halftime to level the score, setting up a competitive second half. Mali Price restored Monmouth’s advantage with a well-executed penalty corner routine, but Llandaff equalised once more in the closing stages to take the match to penalty shuffles.

Goalkeeper Verity produced two crucial saves during the shootout, yet Monmouth were narrowly edged out in the final round. The team ultimately finished as national runners-up, a result that reflects their consistency, resilience and teamwork throughout the tournament.
