Godolphin’s U19A lacrosse team has claimed the School Challenge Cup for the second consecutive year, capping off another exceptional season for the Salisbury-based school.
Hosted by England Lacrosse on Sunday, November 16, the tournament brought together the top eight teams from the National Schools Lacrosse Championships U19A division. Entering as defending champions, Godolphin faced significant pressure to retain their title — made even greater by a refreshed squad taking the field this year.
Despite the challenge, the team rose to the occasion. Players committed to an intense training programme and dedicated additional hours of individual practice in their free time, ensuring they were fully prepared for the day-long competition.
Their hard work was evident throughout the tournament as they executed their game plans with consistency and discipline. In the final, Godolphin met St Catherine’s in a tightly contested match. The game showcased the team’s defensive strength, with Godolphin holding firm for six minutes without conceding a goal. Goalkeeper Jemima delivered a standout performance, recording nine saves from free-position shots to help secure the victory.
Head of Godolphin, Jenny Price, said:
“We are incredibly proud of this achievement.
Winning the Challenge Cup for a second consecutive year is a testament to the dedication and teamwork of our players and coaching staff.
It’s a wonderful moment for the entire Godolphin community.”
Head coach Jamie Powell added:
“I am extremely proud of this year’s performance, and it has created a lot of excitement across the Godolphin community.”
With strong performances across the board and another championship trophy in hand, Godolphin’s U19A squad has once again cemented its place among the top school lacrosse teams in the country.
