Gauteng Schools Champions League Week 3 Recap – Clapham High Dominating Both Divisions

The Gauteng Schools Champions League reached its third week with Clapham High continuing to assert their dominance in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions.

In the U-17 Girls’ division, Clapham High cruised to an 8-1 victory over Khanya-Lesedi Secondary, moving to 15 points and taking a major step towards the title. Defending champions Jabulile Secondary edged Anchor Independent Academy 2-1, but still remain five points behind Clapham in the standings. With Jabulile and Tembisa High chasing, Clapham looked set to finish on top.

In the U-17 Boys’ division, defending champions Clapham also strengthened their lead with two wins in midweek fixtures. Unlike the girls’ competition, the boys’ race remained more competitive, with School of Excellence (12 points) and Ibongo Secondary (10 points) staying in close contention.

As both divisions head into the decisive stage, Clapham High emerged as the clear favourites to secure the championships. The final verdict was set to come at the Vaal University of Technology, where the champions would soon be crowned.
