The 2024 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross-Country National Championships took place on a picturesque Saturday at Windsor's Malden Park, courtesy of St. Clair College. It had 198 athletes from 38 schools competing in pleasant weather and gentle winds with the addition of Men's, Women's, and the new Mixed team competition.
Quebec City's Cégep Garneau won their third consecutive National Women's Team, and four of the leading-scoring females were in the top 15. Léane Baril (22:08) won Gold, with eight seconds to spare behind Gabrielle Hamel, Silver, her teammate. Clarisse Mathieu-Prédal and Marianne Rochette finished in 5th and 15th place.
Cégep de Sainte-Foy took Women's Team Silver and Mohawk College took Bronze. Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu's Maëlly Lamontagne went all-RSEQ to take individual Bronze.
At the Men's race, title winner Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) had four men in the top 10. Nathan Woyessa posted a 24:25 mark to lead his team to Gold, accompanied by Max Thiessen, Moktar Said, and Yahye Jama.
Garneau won Silver in the Men's, and Sainte-Foy won Bronze.
Garneau also won Gold for the inaugural Mixed Team competition, Sainte-Foy winning Silver and Mohawk College winning Bronze.
The 2024 CCAA Cross-Country Championships featuredfantastic performances and exciting firsts, with Garneau and SAIT dominating the action.
