Epsom College delivered a standout performance at the 2025 U18 National Schools Padel Championships in Bristol, securing the Mixed Team national title and finishing runners-up in the Boys category. With schools from across the UK competing at the highest level, Epsom’s success marked a major milestone in the school’s growing padel programme.
The most remarkable result came from Epsom’s Mixed Team 1, made up of Blake, Darius, Sam, Nina, and Anna. After a dominant start in the group stage, with commanding wins over Seaford College and Hurst, the team faced a setback against Charterhouse but quickly rebounded with a strong performance against Bristol Grammar to reach the semifinals. There, they defeated KESW 12–8 to book their place in the final.
In the championship match against Colfe’s, the team faced early pressure after Nina and Darius lost their match 1–7. However, Anna and Sam responded with a flawless 8–0 victory, turning the tie around to secure a 9–7 overall win and crown Epsom as the 2025 U18 Mixed National Champions.
Success continued in the Boys 1st Team, where captain Luca led teammates Riccardo, Indie, and Zac through an undefeated group stage. The team recorded impressive wins over KESW, Manchester Grammar, Trinity School, and Colfe’s. Their momentum carried through to the knockout rounds, where they defeated Radley 12–5 in the quarterfinals and edged past Aylesbury Grammar 10–7 in the semis. In the final, they faced a rematch with Manchester Grammar and, despite a strong effort and high-quality play, fell just short of the title. Still, the runner-up finish was a testament to the team’s quality, consistency, and resilience throughout the tournament.
Several other Epsom teams also made their mark. Mixed Team 2 started well with a win over Colfe’s but narrowly missed out on progressing after tough matches against KESW, Seaford, and Clifton. Boys 2nd Team, featuring Blake, Darius, Sam, and Kintaro, advanced through their group and reached the semifinals, but fatigue from earlier mixed matches proved a factor in their narrow loss to eventual champions Manchester Grammar. Boys 3rd Team gained valuable experience with a notable win over RGS High Wycombe, while the Girls Team progressed to the semifinals after defeating Bristol Grammar, Hurstpierpoint, and Seaford, before narrowly missing out on a finals place against Charterhouse.
This tournament demonstrated not only the depth of talent across Epsom’s padel teams but also the strength of its sporting culture. With a national title and a finals appearance secured, the school has firmly established itself as a rising force in one of the world’s fastest-growing sports.
