Clapham High celebrated double glory at the Gauteng Schools Champions League, claiming both the boys’ and girls’ U-17 titles on Tuesday (23rd) at the Vaal University of Technology.
In the Boys’ division, Clapham began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Ibongo Secondary, the only match in which they dropped points. From there, they went on a six-match winning streak, including a 2-0 victory over The School of Excellence and a commanding 6-0 triumph against Thuto Lefa Secondary School. They finished the league with 19 points to secure the championship. Rival sides the School of Excellence and Ibongo Secondary battled to a 2-2 draw, preventing either from overtaking the champions.
In the Girls’ division, Clapham maintained a flawless record, sealing the title with emphatic performances. They defeated Zithobeni Secondary School 8-0 and Anchor Independent Academy 4-0, finishing with 21 points—seven clear of second-placed Tembisa High (14 points). Despite a disappointing campaign overall, Tembisa ended on a high with an 11-0 victory over Randfontein High.
Ultimately, Clapham High’s dominant performances in both divisions left no doubt as they lifted the Gauteng Schools Champions League trophies, underlining their supremacy across the competition.
