Batswana Commercial High School Triumphs in NWU Netball Tournament

Batswana Commercial High School's under-18 netball team delivered an exceptional performance at the North-West University (NWU) High Schools Netball Tournament, claiming first place in a thrilling final on 21 March 2026. Hosted at NWU’s Mahikeng Campus, the event brought together seven competing schools, including International School of South Africa (ISSA), Curro Mahikeng, Mmabatho High School, St Mary’s High School, Living Faith, and Tetlano Secondary School. The tournament saw exciting matches throughout the day, culminating in Batswana’s 26–12 victory over Mmabatho High School.

In addition to the team's success, individual players were recognized for their stellar performances. Nomalia Nqume from Batswana Commercial High School was named Best Shooter, while Koketso Marwane of ISSA took home the Best Defender award, and Lesego Lechuti from Tetlano Secondary School earned Best Midcourt Player honors. NWU coach Segopolo Motsumi praised the tournament’s growth and its role in fostering student engagement with sports, noting that many past participants have gone on to enroll at the university and continue their netball journey. The event highlights NWU’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and promoting student involvement in athletics.
