B D Public School won the 3rd Fr Gordon Murphy SJ Memorial Inter-School Basketball Tournament 2026 (U-19 Boys) after defeating host St Michael’s High School 31-20 in the final on Thursday. Gaurav Kumar led the winning side with a standout performance and was named both Best Scorer of the Tournament and Man of the Match. Atharv Shekhar of St Michael’s High School received the Best Player of the Tournament award, while his schoolmate Sarvesh Kumar was honoured as the Best Emerging Player. Trinity Global School finished third after beating Army Public School in the playoff match, because apparently even bronze has to be fought for like a kingdom.
The two-day event brought together 12 schools and featured strong teamwork, discipline, and competitive play. It opened on April 29 with the inauguration of the new basketball court by Shirsat Kapil Ashok, managing director of BSRDC and secretary of the dairy, fisheries, and animal resource department. On the final day, Fr Ignatius Topno SJ, principal of St Xavier’s College of Education, and host principal Fr A Christu Savarirajan SJ gave out prizes and certificates. In a separate event, St Xavier’s High School won the Fr Tom Kalari SJ Memorial Inter-School Wall Painting Competition 2026, which saw 11 Patna schools create artworks on Folk Art and World Peace/Harmony. International School placed first runner-up, while St Michael’s High School took second runner-up.
