AA National Secondary Schools Basketball Championships Near Final Stage in New Zealand

The AA National Secondary Schools Basketball Championships in New Zealand are underway at the Arena this week and will conclude with the finals on Saturday.

In the boys’ competition, Feilding High School has advanced to the 19th–20th place playoff, continuing their battle for final placement. At the top end of the standings, the semifinals featured matchups between Shirley Boys' High School and Westlake Boys' High School, and Auckland Grammar School and Christ's College. The winners will soon be determined and advance to the championship game.

In the girls’ tournament, Manukura is competing in the 17th–20th place playoff. At the top of the bracket, Westlake Girls’ High School has already secured their place in the final, where they will face the winner of the semifinal clash between St Kentigern College and Hamilton Girls’ High School.

Meanwhile, in the A Boys Competition for schools with smaller enrollments, Hato Pāora College finished in third place, while Te Aroha College claimed the championship title after defeating Elim Christian College in the final. Additionally, Te Ahitaewa Hakaraia-Hosking of Hato Pāora was named to the prestigious All-Star Team for his outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
